In the early days of my vision loss I would often have the image of some demon swallowing my eyesight.  Similarly, the ancient Chinese believed that a lunar eclipse was the result of a dragon eating the moon. In this piece, the snake is eating the eye and the crystals represent the last glistening moment of light before darkness descends. The discs behind the snake represent the cycles and interconnectedness of life.
